You Have Received An Official Warning / Probationary Period
This is a private site, access to it is a privilege not a right, & is conditional upon you abiding by the rules.
You have contravened one or more of the rules on the Rules page &/or the uploading rules on the Preupload page.
Please make sure you read & understand the rules, if after that you are still unsure of your offence PM a staff member politely seeking an explanation.
Remember they are just doing their job & it was your responsibility to ensure you did not offend.
You can find the staff contact list in the Announcements Forum.
Staff have the responsibility & discretion to police behaviour considered unacceptable, being pedantic &/or disingenuous will not help your case at all.
Don't Push Your Luck, We Can Always Tighten The Rules.
What does this mean -
Receiving a warning is basically being put on probation for the specified period: 1, 2, 4 or 8 weeks. If there is no period specified you have received an Arbitrary warning.
Any offences committed whilst on probation will receive a harsher penalty than would otherwise be the case.
Note: An arbitrary warning is one of indefinite length & is the most severe penalty other than being banned. If you have received one of these you are really pushing your luck & are very close to being banned.
An arbitrary warning is being put on indefinite probation, it can only be removed at staff discretion, & only after an extended period of good behaviour.
This does not mean it will be removed, most will stay in place permanently unless the member makes a concerted effort to prove themselves over an extended period of time.
In other words, simply lying low for 6 months will not provide you grounds for it's removal as we have no way of assessing your prevailing attitude.
What to do if you think it is unfair/a mistake -
If you have clearly breached the rules you must accept it, the rules are not up for negotiation. Do NOT bother staff about the rules &/or for doing their job.
If you think a mistake has been made PM the staff member in question & politely explain the situation from your point of view.
If you are sure you have not broken any rules & are not satisfied with their response or if you are unable to contact the staff member by PM, PM a different staff member & politely request your case be posted in the staff forum for a joint review by all staff. Keep in mind that it is rare for a staff members original decision to be overturned, be sure of your ground before pursuing this option, you wont impress anyone by wasting even more of staff time.
Please Note: Due to time differences & irregular hours of staff you cannot necessarily expect immediate responses, be patient. This particularly applies to joint reviews, by the time everyone logs in & out a few times it can take a few days to reach consensus.
WHAT NOT TO DO -
DO NOT bother, hassle, abuse, snipe or rant at staff.
DO NOT post copies of staff private messages, or part thereof, anywhere or to any other member other than another staff member.
DO NOT be a smart ass.
DO NOT post about your warning in the forums, torrent comments, descriptions, your profile or message other members. The appeal process is made very clear above & the result of the staff review is final. This is a private site, access to it is a privilege not a right, & is conditional upon you abiding by the rules.
